
Stop Paying the “Brand Tax” on Your Infrared Lamps
I get it. Most engineers I talk to are terrified of switching away from those big European names like Goldisgood. They’re worried that if they go with a domestic alternative, the heat density will tank or the lamps will burn out in a week. It’s a fair fear—nobody wants to be the person who crashed the production line. But here’s the thing: we’ve run these tubes side-by-side in actual stress tests. The data is clear. That “performance gap” people talk about? It’s pretty much gone.
The secret to the heat
To get that same punch of heat you’re used to, you have to nail the wattage-to-length ratio. We build our tubes to handle high voltage—often 400V—which lets us cram a massive amount of power into a tiny space. That’s how you get the intense radiation needed to preheat PET plastic fast. But there’s a catch. If the tungsten filament is even slightly off-center inside the quartz, you get hot spots. Those spots are killers; they make the lamp burn out way too early. We spend our time on precision centering so the heat stays uniform from one end to the other.
No fancy rewiring needed
We use high-purity quartz glass because it can take the hit of rapid heating and cooling without cracking. And don’t worry about the installation. Whether you need R7s or Sk15 connectors, these are just drop-in replacements. You don’t have to touch your wiring or swap out your sockets. You just pop them in and go. Some of our tubes even have a special coating that pushes the heat directly into the plastic instead of wasting it on the oven walls.
A few things to watch out for
Now, let’s be real. When you put this much power in a small tube, things get hot. Really hot. This puts a lot of pressure on your reflectors. If yours are pitted or oxidized, you’re basically throwing energy away. Plus, if you’re running these lamps at their absolute limit, your cooling fans need to be up to the task. If the ends of the lamp overheat, you’ll fry your sockets. Keep the air moving, and your lamps will last a lot longer.
