When you’re designing a bathroom heater, a waterproof seal is just the starting point. It’s not enough to just keep the water out. When we build our IP65 infrared lamps for homes, the real headache is the light. You want the heat, but you don’t want a blinding glare—especially for babies and toddlers whose eyes are still developing and way more sensitive than ours. The trick to eye safety Standard short-wave lamps are intense. They pump out a lot of visible light and UV radiation that can actually hurt your retinas. To fix that, we use coated quartz glass or specific filters. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. These filters block the harsh blue light and UV rays but let the warmth slide right through. The result? You get a soft, warm glow instead of a spotlight. You feel the heat on your skin, but you aren’t squinting. Dealing with water and heat We all know water and electricity are a terrible mix. To get that IP65 rating, we use tempered glass and high-temp silicone gaskets. It keeps the steam and splashes away from the guts of the machine. But here’s the catch: sealing something tight means it can’t breathe. If you tuck these into a cramped ceiling without any room for air to move, the internal driver is going to overheat. It’s basic physics. You’ve got to make sure the mounting bracket has enough space for air to flow, or you’re just asking for the electronics to fry. Making it work in the real world We’ve made these easy to drop right into standard bathroom fixtures. The goal was simple: high heat, low glare. By tweaking the filament temperature and using the right coatings, we keep the warmth intense while keeping the light dim. We trade a tiny bit of “instant-on” heating speed for a massive jump in safety. It’s a trade-off we’re happy to make.
