
The Secret to Heaters That Actually Last in a Chicken Coop
If you’ve ever run a heater in a chicken coop, you know it’s a nightmare environment. You’ve got high humidity, ammonia fumes, and just… general coop grime. Most people worry about the heating element burning out, but the real trouble usually starts where the wires meet the heater. That little connection point—the lead-wire interface—is where things usually go south. Why these heaters usually fail
Most cheap heaters use basic glue or some loose rubber gaskets. In a coop, that’s a recipe for disaster. Moisture sneaks into the junction, the heater warms up, the moisture evaporates, and then it condenses again. It’s a cycle. Over time, this eats away at the copper leads. The insulation gets brittle, starts to crack, and before you know it, the current jumps. That’s how you end up with a dead heater or, even worse, a fire hazard. It’s all in the details

The catch
